Mr Olaniyi Ogunsina

The Disciplinary Tribunal, at its hearing on 18 June 2009, determined that Mr Olaniyi Ogunsina, a student member of the Institute, of 143 Pembury Avenue, Worcester Park, Surrey KT4 8BX, was guilty of two breaches of Rule 2.15 (Failure to report a criminal conviction and Failure to report disciplinary proceedings commenced by another professional body) as set out in the Institute’s Professional Rules and Practice Guidelines 2006 (PRPG).

The Tribunal found that it was clear, and admitted by Mr Ogunsina, that he had failed to report to the Institute a criminal conviction for false accounting, to which he had pleaded guilty at Isleworth Crown Court in April 2007. He had also failed to report disciplinary action brought against him by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants as a result of his conviction. The Tribunal considered that a separate charge of failing to act with integrity, contrary to Rule 2.2, was not made out.

The Tribunal ordered that, in view of the gravity of Mr Ogunsina's conduct, the only appropriate sanction was to expel him from student membership of the Institute. The Tribunal ordered that he should pay costs of £250.
